Flight Attendant School

flight attendant school

When you go online looking for education, you can find schools for anything and this includes a flight attendant school.  Flight attendant schools can be found online and a couple can also be found offline, usually as part of general flight schools.  If you are interested in becoming a flight attendant, can a flight attendant school help you get there?

Where Can you Find a Flight Attendant School?

If you are interested in a specific education as a flight attendant, there are a few places where you can look for flight attendant schools.  There are a couple of real world schools scattered across Canada and more in America, usually centered in large cities where the major airlines are.  There really is no such thing as a ‘flight attendant school’ specifically, instead, the education is usually part of a large whole such as tourism hospitality.  This kind of education is useful though as it will give a thorough grounding not only in helping people, but in helping people from different cultures, a basic knowledge of different areas, and other hospitable things that will make people feel more comfortable traveling.

If you go online in your search for a flight attendant school, you will find that you have better luck.  There are several institutions and schools, but make sure that whichever one you consider is certified and legitimate; check reviews and ask around before committing any money to one school or the other.  Online education is better in some ways; you can do it on your own time, it can be faster and you can do it at home no matter where you live.  However, be careful of fraud and make sure that the education you receive is going to actually be useful for finding work.

What Will Flight Attendant School Do For You?

It may seem a bit redundant to go to school to become a flight attendant and pursue your career that way, but it can be extremely advantageous, especially in this competitive job market.  In flight attendant school, you will learn basic hospitality and consumer service, but also things like emergency procedures, airline terminology, city and airport codes and even the different types of airplanes and what to expect from them.  The training you then receive on the job will make more sense, be easier to digest, and you’ll have a solid foundation from which to build on.  All of this helps you get the flight attendant job, keep it and rise in the ranks of seniority which means more steady hours and better pay over the long run.

It is not a requirement for applicants to have gone to flight schools, but it is helpful to do if you can find one that will give you a good education.  Generally speaking, certification does not take too long; up to two or three months at most and proper schools will be taught by flight attendants themselves so that you get the personal touch.

Flight Attendant School Scams

Be very careful when you are searching for flight attendant schools that you choose one that will actually give you a proper education and won’t just take your money.  It is hard to find good schools, but here are a couple of guidelines so that you can avoid potential scams:

Ÿ  Try to go to a Real Life School; there are a few attached to general tourism schools and hospitality certification.  If you cannot find one, see if you can petition your local college to start one for a year for anyone interested.  This will take some work, but it’s good practice for dealing with people!

Ÿ  If you choose to go online, research your potential schools thoroughly.  Look for independent reviews, ask plenty of questions and make sure that the school as an education that will actually be useful to yourself and to airlines.  If it looks suspicious such as promising you instant jobs or a top notch education for next to nothing, it probably is suspicious.  Be careful.

You don’t need a specific education to become a flight attendant and many successful applicants have had no such things while those with the education have trouble finding work.  However, attending flight attendant school is a great way to learn if this really is the job for you and give you skills that provide a foundation for the training you receive on the job.  If you are interested in starting out on the right foot on the road to being a flight attendant, then consider going to flight attendant school.
